Darwin Airport


Darwin International Airport is the busiest airport serving the Northern Territory and the tenth busiest airport in Australia. It is the only airport serving Darwin. The Airport is located in Darwin, Northern Territory's northern suburbs, 13 km from the Darwin city centre, in the suburb of Marrara. It shares runways with the Royal Australian Air Force's RAAF Base Darwin. Darwin Airport has an international terminal, a domestic terminal and a cargo terminal. Both of the passenger terminals have a number of shops and cafeterias. The airport serves over 56,000 flights and 1,813,000 passengers per year.

Darwin Airport has scheduled flights to destinations in the Northern Territory, around Australia and in Southeast Asia. Only one terminal is used for both domestic and international services. The terminal has several food outlets and shops, with duty-free shopping for international travellers. Darwin International Airport car park operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is situated directly in front of the Terminal. The car park offers short and long term stays; same parking area and its competitive rates often provide better value for money than other forms of transport with the added convenience of travelling at your own pace.

Darwin Airport Resort is located approximately 350 metres from the Terminal. ATMs are located on the Ground Floor and First Floor and both accept most major cards. Amusement machines are located on the Ground Floor and First Floor. Baby change rooms for parents are located on the First Floor. Baggage Trolleys are free of charge for passengers. Trolley stands are located in Baggage Collection, Public Car Park, Drop off/Pick Up Zones and throughout the Terminal. Change machines are located throughout the Ground Floor. All Terminal facilities are accessible for wheelchairs. Wheelchairs are available on request from airline staff if required.

Dedicated disabled parking bays are conveniently located on the left hand side of the Terminal. These bays are clearly marked and are restricted for vehicles displaying a valid Disability Permit. Disabled parking is located within the public car park, nearest to the terminal. Food and beverage outlets are located in various locations around the terminal. Foreign money exchange is available through Travelex located on the ground floor, first floor and in the international departures lounge. Lockers are located on the ground floor of the terminal building, next to the domestic baggage carousels. They range in size from small to extra large size.

There is a lost property service at the Terminal Control Centre during business hours, see terminal map for location. Secure Parking, Long Term and Short Term Parking are available close to the Terminal building. A post box is located at the front of the Terminal. Mail is collected once a day by Australia Post. Enjoy watching aircraft take off from the public viewing deck located on the first floor. Smoking is permitted on the deck in the domestic and international lounges. Darwin International Airport Terminal is a smoke free zone; however there is provision for smoking areas for passengers on the Public Viewing Deck on the First Floor. Telephones are conveniently located throughout the terminal and require either a telephone card or coins to activate. Toilets are located throughout the Ground and First Floor of the Terminal. Taxis, Private Hire Cars and Shuttle Bus Services are readily available for hire by International and Domestic travellers and are located outside of the Terminal.

Drinking water is available from the water fountains located throughout the Terminal. A Wireless Internet Hotspot is available on the first floor of the Terminal.
