Blue's Embraer E-170 jets. Brindabella Airlines also operates daily services to
Coffs Harbour and Brisbane on its J41 aircraft. The airport is operational 24 hours
a day and handles approximately 30,000 aircraft movements an year.

just five km west of Port Macquarie's CBD. The airport services the Port Macquarie-Hastings
and wider Mid North Coast region of NSW, being located approximately midway between
Sydney and Brisbane. Port Macquarie Airport has an ongoing development program to
ensure that the airport is positioned to handle forecast growth in passenger numbers
and that its services and facilities continue to meet the needs of the community.
A program of major maintenance and improvement works was undertaken recently including
maintenance and resurfacing to the existing runway, taxiway and apron; new runway
end safety areas (RESAs) as required by CASA at both ends of the runway; an extension
to the existing apron to provide a third aircraft parking by a new departure lounge
to the west of the existing terminal building, with passenger and carry-on baggage
security screening facilities as required for jet aircraft operations; and reconfiguration
of the existing car park to provide additional car parking bays. The Airport is
a separate business unit within Council, funded solely by airport operations.
The Airport car parking system aims to maximize the availability of parking for
all Airport users. Revenue raised from parking will assist Port Macquarie Airport
to keep pace with ever-increasing operational costs, including new security regulations
and requirements. Funds will also be used to support ongoing improvements to the
Airport services and facilities. Additional security and baggage-handling equipment
for checked baggage to meet Australian Government aviation security regulations
is in place. Indications are that the Airport will continue to get busier with approximately
200,000 passengers expected to pass through the terminal in the near future.
