Sunshine Coast Airport

Sunshine Coast Airport is an Australian airport serving Sunshine Coast, Queensland. In June 2010, the airport changed its name from 'Maroochydore-Sunshine Coast Airport' to Sunshine Coast Airport It is the gateway to holiday destinations such as Noosa, Maroochydore, Mooloolaba and Caloundra. There are direct daily flights to Sydney and Melbourne, with frequent connecting flights to both domestic and international ports.

The Sunshine Coast Airport is situated at Marcoola, 10km north of Maroochydore, and is owned, operated, managed and developed by the Sunshine Coast Regional Council, which assumed the powers of the former Shire of Maroochy. It is the principal airport for the Sunshine Coast and is the only airport in this region capable of servicing jet aircraft operations. The Airport supports a number of regular public transport services (with Boeing and Airbus A320 aircraft) and a variety of general aviation activities. These activities are in keeping with the increasing demands of tourism, passenger traffic, general aviation and commercial development opportunities and flight training

The airport handles about 850,000 passenger movements per annum making it the 15th busiest airport in Australia. The airport has one terminal. It has one-storey and thus there are no aerobridges, and passengers must take a short walk on the tarmac to reach their aircraft. The terminal is modern and of high-quality for a regional airport. Each of the three airlines operating has dedicated check-in desks. There are two baggage carousels, TV monitors, a taxi rank, shuttle bus services and hire-car desks. The departure lounge is fairly large, with seating available for about 300 people. The airport has two runways. One is only used for general aviation and the other runway handles both general aviation and airliners.

Sunshine Coast Airport, on behalf of its passengers takes security very seriously and safety of the Airport precinct is of the highest priority. Sunshine Coast Airport works closely with all government regulators relating to aviation safety and security. You are permitted to drop off passengers and accompanying baggage at the terminal kerbside. Also attended vehicles can only remain in the drop off area for a maximum of two minutes whilst unloading passengers.

If you wish to farewell your passengers and accompany them to the Terminal, take advantage of the short term car parking facilities and say a ‘long goodbye!’ You may pick up passengers waiting for you at the front of the Terminal but only if all your passengers are kerbside and ready to depart with all their baggage. Alternatively take the opportunity to park in the Short Term Car Park and venture into the terminal for a great cup of coffee and give them a Sunshine Coast welcome they’ll remember. Sunshine Coast Airport offers a variety of shopping and dining options.

Disabled parking spaces are conveniently located within all car parks at the Sunshine Coast Airport. Two spaces are situated in both the long term car parks, and 10 spaces are located at the front of the Short Term car park, all spaces allowing for easy access to the Terminal. All blue and red disability permits are accepted in the disabled parking areas and must be displayed on the vehicle at all times while parked at the Sunshine Coast Airport. Disabled toilets are located throughout the terminal building. For passenger convenience, there are disabled toilets located in the departures hall near the Jetstar check in desks. These toilets were recently installed as part of the Terminal Redevelopment project and have been installed using automated doors for easy use with walkers or wheel chairs.

Within the Departure Lounge additional disabled toilets are located near the Newstravels store and upon existing the terminal through the arrivals hall; more disabled toilets are located adjacent to the luggage carousels. To assist our hearing impaired customers, a hearing loop was included in the recent Terminal Redevelopment Project. The hearing loop is designed to allow persons fitted with a hearing aid to be able to clearly hear any announcements made within the terminal.
